How this item is held in the public record.
The Laboratories have released an updated Field Array client, the software that lets volunteers contribute idle computer time to analysis of the public and restricted signal record.
The client uses only a small share of idle capacity, reads no user files, and returns only the analysis products it is built to return. Updates are signed and delivered through the client so contributors do not have to manage analysis packages manually.
Release contents
- Updated signing and package-verification flow for Windows deployment.
- Revised idle detection for short work units and lower-power machines.
- Clearer local status messages for paused, expired, or completed jobs.
- Improved retry behavior when the work queue rejects a superseded package.
The release does not change the client privacy boundary. Field Array machines receive work from FAL, run the assigned computation, and return the result. They are not sensors and they are not general-purpose data collectors.
Contributors running an older client will receive the update through the existing client channel. New contributors should install from the Field Array page rather than from third-party mirrors.
Distributed Analysis Initiative
FAL does not distribute Field Array clients through third-party download sites. Contributors should use the institute page and verify the signed update path before running analysis software.
