Library & Archive Services / Full-time
Archive Systems Librarian
Preserve, digitize, describe, and govern access to six decades of field logs, tapes, instrument drawings, and technical correspondence.
The archive is the reason old records can be challenged instead of merely remembered. This role protects that continuity as fragile media and retiring staff both age out.
Resume or CV
Finding aid, metadata sample, preservation plan, or collection policy sample
Short note on restricted records and researcher access
Candidate exercise
A metadata and access-rule exercise using a mixed technical-record accession.

How this packet is evaluated
Archive services
Finalist review covers restricted holdings, chain of custody, reading-room access, and retention language.
Complete packets are logged under REC-LAS-26-002-LIB, separated from public correspondence, and assigned to the Library & Archive Services recruiting desk for first read.
Any exercise is bounded, redacted, and evaluated only for hiring. It is not added to the catalog, public systems, grant files, or laboratory work product.
| Criterion | Weight | Evidence reviewed |
|---|---|---|
| Chain of custody | 30% | Can preserve provenance across old technical records and modern access requests. |
| Restriction language | 25% | Makes access limits clear without hiding what can be described. |
| Metadata quality | 25% | Produces finding aids that support discovery and audit. |
| Researcher service | 20% | Balances helpful public access with retention and condition constraints. |
